1-800 Contacts, the U.S. company that pioneered sales of contact lenses over the telephone, and then over the internet, has launched a new website to sell prescription eyeglasses. It started up last June 20 under the name of glasses.com, which had been registered 12 years ago by the founder and chief executive of 1-800 Contact, Jonathan Coons. All the lenses offered on the website are by Carl Zeiss Vision and are the moment only for single vision, in polycarbonate with AR coatings. They are offered together with 11 brands of women's frames and eight men's brands including Jones New York, Modo, Oakley and Smith Optics. Customers can take advantage of a virtual try-on feature and of a printable PD ruler that allow them to take their measurements..
