A French appeals court has rejected the claims of some franchisees of Lissac, the French optical retail chain, who criticized recent management changes and other actions taken by the company in view of its possible takeover by Alain Afflelou, the largest optical franchisor in France and in Europe. The takeover remains subject to arbitrage proceedings that are still under way. Meanwhile, Afflelou has set out as a goal an increase from 450 to 500 in its network of stores in France. Afflelou's company-owned and franchised stores raised their sales by 18.5 percent to 2,450 million French francs (e374m-$321m) last year.
