The organizers of Silmo have reported a satisfactory level of business at the 52nd edition of the Paris trade show at the end of September. Roughly in line with the scores reached one year ago, it was attended by more than 37,000 professional visitors, 56 percent of whom came from outside France.
The show hosted a total of 965 exhibitors, eight more than last year, with 77 percent coming from abroad. They presented 1,548 brands on 80,000 square meters of exhibition space. Out of them, 230 companies participated in the fair for the first time.
New spaces were devoted to fashion trends and future services and technologies. For the first time, the show also managed to present a selection of 50 iconic products from the eyewear museums of Oyonnax and Morez, the two major clusters of the French eyewear industry, on 160 square meters of space, with the support of local authorities.
The museum of Oyonnax, which specialized in plastic eyewear, exhibits about 300 pieces at a time from a vast collection of about 16,000 items. It gets around 6,500 visitors per year. The museum of Morez, which specializes in metal frames, has some 8,000 pieces and is visited by some 15,000 people annually.
