A Spanish eyewear specialist, Kaleos, has entered the ready-to-wear market with Kaleos RTW, its first collection of clothing for men and women. So far, Kaleos RTW counts a limited number of up to 100 units per style produced by small manufacturers in Spain. The prices range from €140 for a shirt to €200 for a pair of trousers, with jackets and coats sold for €400 to €500. Founded in 2013 by its chief executive, Juan Gassó, and its artistic director, Claudia Brotons, the Barcelona-based company wanted to establish itself in the eyewear segment before taking the step to expand its product offering. Currently, Kaleos sells its products through its online store and has a presence in over 20 countries through more than 2,000 shops, including department stores such as La Rinascente and Barneys New York and on Matchesfashion.com. Kaleos has been focusing on the U.S. and Europe recently to support its growth, reportedly achieving annual revenues of €3.5 million. The launch of the apparel collection will open up new growth opportunities for the business, besides offering good-quality and sustainable items.
