Advanced Medical Optics posted a 23.4 percent increase (or up 17.2 percent at constant currency rates) in net revenues last year to $742.1 million, but posted a net loss of $129.4 million, down from $10.4 million. Sales of ophthalmic surgical products rose 34.9 percent ? up 28.6 percent at constant currency rates ? in 2004 to $413.4 million, while sales of eyecare products reached $328.7 million, up by 11.4 percent (or 5.2 percent at constant currency rates). In the 4th quarter, the company's net revenues reached $224.7 million, up 34.6 percent (up 29.3 percent at constant currency rates) and net earnings for the quarter totaled $10.1 million, as compared to $9.7 million in the same period in 2003. Advanced Medical Optics still intends to close its planned acquisition of Visx in this year's first quarter.
