After several rounds in different French courts of justice, a final decision in the case that had been opposing Optical Center to Gadol Optic 2000 since 2008 was announced earlier this month. Optical Center had accused about 20 Optic 2000 shops of unfair competition, by regularly optimizing their consumers' bills to match the maximum refund by their private health insurances. The voluntary fund had been condemned to the payment a €30 million fine in 2014, which had been suspended after the group appealed the decision and placed itself in a special safety procedure. In September 2016, the French courts cleared Gadol Optic 2000 of all charges related to that case, and this decision has now been definitely confirmed after a last appeal by Optical Center.
