Aigle, a French producer of lifestyle-oriented outdoor clothing and footwear, has signed a 5-year European eyewear licensing contract for prescription frames with Aoyama, the large Japanese eyewear manufacturer specializing in titanium frames. The collection will be presented at the next SILMO fair in Paris. Currently licensed to a French firm, Filtral, Aigle sunglasses by Aoyama will follow at the beginning of 2009. Aoyama has also an option for the rest of the world. The company, which dropped an eyewear license with the Wilson brand a couple of years ago, already has a strong presence in France, Spain and Germany. In the UK, where it set up an office one year ago, it already has more than 200 accounts.
