Airess International plans to set up a wholly-owned sales subsidiary in the UK in March of next year to help support the European launch of its licensed top-of-the-range John Galliano collection of eyewear, which is enjoying a good start. The French eyewear firm is also handling the Kenzo license for the LVMH group. Its international distribution network will also benefit from the gradual start-up next September of a common European logistic platform for all the countries where it sells directly, including Benelux, Italy and Germany. Airess reports a successful launch at Mido of its new casual and technical Escada Sport line. The new licenses will help Airess to post a double-digit sales increase this year from the level of 300 million French francs (e46m-$39m) reached in 2000, but its older Cacharel and Charles Jourdan lines are recording increases as well. Airess' wholly owned Italian distribution company, Adriatica, is enjoying a double-digit increase.
