Alaïa has announced the expansion of its portfolio of products with the launch of sunglasses, produced in partnership with Kering Eyewear. The portfolio of the Parisian fashion house, which is part of Richemont, already includes ready-to-wear, couture, fragrance, and leather accessories. Kering Eyewear develops and distributes eyewear for Saint Laurent, Gucci, Stella McCartney, and Alexander McQueen, among others. The announcement comes just months after the death of Azzedine Alaïa, its iconic couturier, in November. In December, Maison Alaïa released a statement in which it announced it would continue the legacy of the Tunisian designer.

It is not the first time for Alaïa in the eyewear segment. In the past, the fashion house had launched a limited edition collection in partnership with Alain Mikli. The new spring/summer 2018 sunglass collection with Kering Eyewear comprises six distinct styles, available in different colors and a variety of shapes, including oval, square, and round. Micro-studs decorate the frames. The eyewear is manufactured in Italy, where Kering Eyewear is based.
