Alain Affelou, the French franchisor, has reportedly postponed to next September the start-up of a new chain of stores that will trade under a different name and in a different segment of the market. In the 3rd quarter ended Jan. 31, the company's revenues grew by 5.4 percent to e23.7 million, thanks mainly to a 20 percent sales increase for its company-owned stores to e6.9 million. Total retail sales under the Alain Afflelou banner rose by 4.9 percent to €90.9 million. On a comparable store basis, the banner did 2.5 percent better but the company-owned outlets showed a 10.2 percent increase.
