Alcon, the Nestlé subsidiary that went public on the New York stock exchange a few weeks ago, raised its net income by 14.5 percent to $108.2 million in the 1st quarter. Its sales grew by 7.9 percent to $706.5, with increases of 15.9 percent in pharmaceuticals, 3.9 percent in surgical products, 4.2 percent in consumer eyecare and 12.2 percent for Opti-free.
