Alpina, the eyewear brand under the Uvex umbrella, is reconsidering its distribution policy outside the sporting goods business, especially in the optical retail channel. For the time being, the brand is pulling out its sales representatives from this channel, but the supply of parts and services is guaranteed. Sales were not sufficiently strong to justify the sales force's engagement in the market. Alpina will now put its focus on the sporting goods business where it does not only offer sunglasses and frames, but also helmets for bikers and snow and outdoor enthusiasts. The brand is still working on a better solution for the optical retail segment, conducting negotiations with other partners.
