Ambra Nobre Sinkoc has been named executive director of Abióptica, the Brazilian eyewear industry association, which has 80 members representing 95 percent of the industry. The corporate governance of the 20-year-old association was reorganized after the recent resignation of its former president, Bento Alcofrado. An extraordinary general meeting has established four divisions led by different industry executives: Sebastien Picot of Essilor will be in charge of visual inclusion projects and events, Edy Titeldaum of Optitex will take care of strategic alliances, Eliazer Lopes of Moura will supervise taxation, and Alessandro Zanardo of Luxottica will lead the fight against product piracy. Meanwhile, Marcelo Kitsuda of Marchon Eyewear has taken the place of Titeldaum as chairman of the board of directors. Edson Mello of Mello Optical will act as vice chairman.
