An Italian company, Acanto, launched a new, trendy line of prescription frames at the last Mido show, called Shield Eyewear, that is said to promote the psycho-physical well-being of the wearer through the use of an activated silicon bio-magnet that protects him or her from the dangers of electro-smog. This rather pervasive element, which comes from electromagnetic waves of natural and artificial origin, is said to produce a variety of disorders including stress, anxiety, and sleep and digestive disorders. The bio-magnets used in Shield Eyewear have been developed by i.Care for use in Class 1 medical devices.
