Andy Wolf, a highly creative Austrian manufacturer of acetate eyeglasses, has announced the acquisition of a factory in the Jura region of France specializing in the production of hand-made metal eyeglasses. Employing about 20 people, the plant belonged to Mandrillon, a contract manufacturer that had run into financial difficulties for the second time, filing for insolvency in the summer of 2015. Marking its tenth anniversary, the investment will allow Andy Wolf to present a first line of metal glasses, comprising 14 optical styles and five sunglasses, at the Silmo show starting tomorrow. The glasses are made with spring-tempered nickel silver. The bridge is made of stainless steel, and some metal rings and temples feature a chasing.
