As of Oct. 16, the U.S. company Ophthnoix ceased its operations. The economic situation put the company in the position of not being able to find the capital needed to continue its operations. The company shipped back all customer frames last week at no charge. Accounts will need to restart these jobs with another lab of their choice. No further finished jobs are shipping from Ophthonix. The company was founded in 2000 and gained attention on the German eyewear market when it launched the lens iZon. The lens promised the correction of the upper aberrations, but was criticized right from the start and was not able to penetrate the market.
