Barberini, the big Italian producer of mineral lenses, is coming out with its first line of sunglasses, called Big Bang, which is being marketed initially in Italy only. The limited-edition collection consists of six styles developed with the help of a young designer, Roberto Russo. It uses a variety of materials including plastics with details in aluminum, beta titanium and other thin and rubberized metals. Barberini has an annual turnover of around €74 million, plus €20 million for the ophthalmic Schott division that it acquired in 2009.
