Bausch & Lomb, a company founded in 1853 by two German immigrants, John Jacob Bausch and Henry Lomb, celebrated its 150th anniversary last Nov. 3 with a ceremony where Ron Zarrella, the company's chairman and CEO, rang the closing bells of the New York Stock Exchange. B&L is also donating $1 million to Vision 2020-The Right to Sight, a new collaborative effort between the World Health Organization and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, and sponsoring new activities in several countries. In the UK, for example, it's sponsoring 12-month subscriptions for up to 150 new members of the British Contact Lens Association. Furthermore, B&L has called for a ?Global Day of Caring? next Apr. 20, where company employees all over the world will participate in local charitable and public service projects.
