Bausch+Lomb has appointed Donald Gagliano as vice president of global development operations. Gagliano is a U.S. military colonel, retinal ophthalmologist and fellow of the American College of Health Care Executives. He had a military career for over 30 years and served since 2008 as executive director of the Vision Center of Excellence at Department of Veterans Affairs, part of the U.S. Department of Defense. Under his management, the center was established as a leading institution in the prevention, clinical care, research, and information management for eye diseases and vision disorders with traumatic brain injury. Its achievements were recognized recently with the 2013 Innovators Award from the Foundation for Fighting Blindness. At Bausch+Lomb, Gagliano will be leading a scientific review of global business development opportunities and strategic initiatives for the firm's pharmaceuticals division, as well as supporting special projects carried out by Bausch+Lomb's surgical division.
