Blake Kuwahara, the U.S. brand of eyewear, was nominated for a Silmo d'Or in the category of corrective frames/eyewear design for its Johnson model, which was developed to honor the architect Philip Johnson. According to the brand, it takes about two months to laminate the inside structure of the acetate frame, which is made of two layers. The Johnson frame of Blake Buwahara is made in Japan by a local production partner. The model is available in four colors. Blake Kuwahara's sales were up by 40 percent in 2017 compared with the previous year. The company expects double-digit growth once again at the end of this year.
