Bob Hughes has stepped down suddenly from his position at the helm the country's Association of Optometrists, but according to Optician, he doesn't want to go into specifics about why. When the British magazine tracked the British industry veteran down for details, all he would say was that his reasons were personal. He didn't rule out the possibility that he would return to the optical profession, saying that he's been looking at some opportunities. The acting chief executive of the group, Richard Carswell, said only that nothing had been decided about a replacement for Hughes.
