Buchmann Optical Holdings has confirmed to Optician that it is closing down its wholly owned subsidiary in the U.K., and other companies will be distributing edging products previously handled by Buchmann. After Optrafair in April, for example, four former sales and service employees of Buchmann will move to BiB Ophthalmic Instruments to handle Briot of France. Norville will start taking care of the German brand Weco, picking the reins back up after having distributed the brand in the 1970s and 1980s. Buchmann UK will still distribute some products, such as its line of Visionix ophthalmic instruments. The U.K. company's managing director, Andrew Brandi, is now the business development director for the independent division at Birmingham Optical Group.
