Carl Zeiss AG has been granted clearance by the European Commission, under Article 6(1)(b) of the EU Merger Regulations, to acquire full control of Carl Zeiss Vision. Both companies are based in Germany. Carl Zeiss AG previously shared control of Carl Zeiss Vision jointly with the EQT III Fund. Carl Zeiss AG is fully controlled by Carl Zeiss Stiftung (Carl Zeiss Foundation), which also owns Schott AG and produces optical systems, industrial measuring and medical devices. The decision to clear the acquisition of Carl Zeiss Vision was announced by the European Commission on April 24, 2013.
