Centro Style, an Italian wholesaler of metal components, accessories and equipment for optical stores, has opened its first subsidiary in the UK and has consequently ceased working with its previous UK distributor, W.T. Rees. Freddy Lehmann, a consultant, has been appointed as its manager. The Italian firm has no other foreign subsidiaries. It generated sales of €20 million in 2002, up 6 percent, with one-quarter of the total delivered outside the country. With 28 agents in Italy, the firm supplies opticians with practically all their requirements except branded frames and lenses - components, chords, eyewear cases, small machinery and drills, even special lenses for severe myopia. The firm claims to be the leader in its field in Italy and Europe, with a total of around 5,000 types of products.
