Christophe Pillet has been named chair of the jury for the Silmo D'Or 2019 Awards. In addition to working on hotels, restaurants, office buildings and mansions, the French designer and interior architect has dabbled in the eyewear industry, designing a line of sunglasses for the 75th anniversary of Lacoste in 2008 and sports and lifestyle collections for Vuarnet in 2017. Upon graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure d'Art in Nice, he moved to Milan to study at the Domus Academy. He spent a further four years there working with Michele De Lucchi, Carlotta de Bevilacqua and Martine Bedin and then spent four years with Philippe Starck in Paris, where he founded his own agency in 1993. Pillet's design philosophy is to “reveal what is beautiful and moving in the ordinary.” The Silmo show is scheduled for Sept. 27-29 at the Paris Nord Villepinte exhibition center.
