Commissione Difesa Vista (CDV), an organization that promotes vision correction in Italy, has announced the release of a new version of its “Sole Amico” app, developed with Unipro and Francesco Loperfido, head of ophthalmology at a prestigious hospital in Milan. The app provides real-time advice on how to protect eyes and skin based on the patient's skin type and the amount of UV in the place where the patient is located. The commission said that only 15 percent of Italians use sunglasses on a regular basis, and 30 percent wear them rarely. In addition, 60 percent of children aged between two and six have never worn sunglasses and the percentage among elderly people is considerably higher, in spite of the fact that the eyes of these two age groups are particularly sensitive. Finally, only 11 percent of young Italians and 10 percent in the over-55 age group use sunglasses regularly.
