CooperVision's Frequency Colors and Expressions contact lenses infringe on a patent held by CIBA Vision's Wesley Jessen unit, according to a California court, but CooperVision will argue in the trial next month that CIBA's patent is invalid. In another case covering the same patent in the UK, CIBA has agreed to revoke its British counterpart and to reimburse CooperVision for legal fees. Regarding another colored lens patent held by CooperVision, a US court has agreed to reconsider a previous verdict in Wesley Jessen's favor and to appoint an independent technical advisor in the case. Similar litigation is still pending in French and German courts.
