Corning has settled out of court a 1-year-old legal suit filed in a US federal court against Transitions Optical, a 100 percent owned subsidiary of PPG Industries in Florida, in relation to its own organic photochromic lenses. The details could not be learnt. Separately, Corning has made a huge $1.8 million (e1.8m) offer to take over Oak Industries, a major US manufacturer of active lasers for optical fiber networks.
