USV Optical, which is part of the Refac group and trades under the name U.S. Vision, has informed the state of New Jersey, where it is located, that it plans to lay off 299 workers. The job cuts are expected to be executed by the end of the year.

The company said that the layoffs are due to Covid-19 restrictions and the economic downturn that are affecting its clients.

U.S. Vision has a 72,000 square foot optical laboratory located in Blackwood, near Philadelphia. The company serves optical practices in the U.S. and Canada. Its clients include Nationwide Vision, JCPenney and BJ’s Optical.
