Zeal Optics of Boulder, Colorado, chose the 50th annual Earth Day, on April 22, to inaugurate its “Shades For Seas” campaign, which pledges to remove 50 pounds of plastic from the oceans for every pair of sunglasses, goggles or accessory lenses sold on zealoptics.com. To this end, it is working with Plastic Bank, a Canadian group that organizes collections of ocean plastic around the world and claims so far to have recovered some 10 million kilograms in Haiti, Brazil, the Philippines and Indonesia. Zeal will repeat “Shades For Seas” throughout June, working with all retail partners to recover five pounds of ocean plastic per pair of Zeals sold.
