Delays in product deliveries caused Orange 21's losses to grow to $1,733,875 in the 1st quarter from $495,061 in the same period a year ago, despite a sales increase of 11 percent to $9.4 million, but the company, which owns Spy Optics, said the result was in line with expectations. Gross profit also was up by 11 percent, reaching $4.5 million, but operating expenses jumped by 39 percent to $6.4 million. For the full year, the company expects a loss of roughly $1.4 million on sales of $46-48 million.
