Dirk Graber, chief executive of Mister Spex, has commented on Fielmann's annual results, which were recently announced at the company's annual press conference in Hamburg. Once again, Fielmann met its own expectations and managed to increase its total sales and its market share in the German optical retail trade in 2015. According to Graber, Germany's online retail segment is rising faster, especially in the category of corrective frames. Graber thinks that the general growth of the German optical industry is less and less determined by big retail chains, as consumers are demanding more innovative business models that combine the advantages of online retailering with offline services. According to Graber, offers made by online and multi-channel retailers grew ten times faster than those of brick-and-mortar eyewear retailers last year. GfK's optical retail panel, which was published this spring, is said to be supporting Graber's statements.
