Doug Perkins, the founder of Specsavers, has been confirmed as a keynote speaker for Optrafair 2016, which will be held at the Birmingham NEC on April 9-11. He will address visitors on the opening Saturday of the show. Perkins co-founded Specsavers with his wife Mary in 1984. The optical retail chain, headquartered in Saint Andrew, Guernsey, now includes 750 practices in the U.K. and Republic of Ireland, which employ more than 17,000 people. The retailer also operates branches in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. In 2007 Mary Perkins was appointed a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen's Birthday Honours List in recognition of her services to business and the community in Guernsey.
