During the World Congress of Ophthalmology, held on Feb. 5-9 in Guadalajara, Mexico, the International Council of Ophthalmology decided on a new guideline for glaucoma, supporting ophthalmologists and their offer to make early glaucoma screenings. All patients who make an eye examination should also get diagnosed for glaucoma and should be informed about the risk of glaucoma. Patients with glaucoma should be advised to tell their brothers, sisters, parents and children that they have an increased risk of getting glaucoma and that they should be examined regularly.
