Essilor has acquired 68.3 percent of the capital of Interactif Visuel Système, a French company that provides technological sales support solutions for opticians. Its range of sales support and ophthalmic measurement solutions are marketed under the brand name Activisu. One of these is Visioffice, a measuring column designed jointly with Essilor that allows eye care professionals to dispense Varilux lenses. IVS has annual sales of about €20 million and employs more than 80 people. Its solutions have been marketed in five continents and represent 30,000 software licenses for more than 17,000 points of sale. The company was founded in Paris more than 15 years ago by Benoist Monot and Pascal Thomet. Essilor expects that, with the acquisition, it will be able to deliver high-performance measuring tools more rapidly in markets worldwide, to meet demand for personalized lenses.
