Essilor International has named Xavier Galliot as group chief sustainability officer. Since 2010, he had been group director of sustainable development at Rexel, a global leader in the distribution of electrical supplies, as well as general secretary of the Rexel foundation. Galliot, 42, started his career with Ernst & Young as a strategy consultant. He then worked in Japan in the biotechnology sector on strategic partnership projects. In 2002 he joined Rio Tinto Alcan, where he held sales & marketing positions on international markets for aluminium products. In late 2007, he became sustainability strategy manager for Alcan International Network. At Essilor, he will be reporting to Jayanth Bhuvaraghan, chief corporate mission officer.
