Essilor International provided more than 2,500 eyeglass lenses to athletes at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens from June 25 to July 4. It was part of the Special Olympics-Lions Clubs International “Opening Eyes” program, which helps give lenses for prescription glasses to athletes. Essilor's Greek distributor, Bairamoglou, handled the edging of the lenses. The Summer Games drew more 7,000 athletes with intellectual and physical disabilities. Essilor has been Opening Eyes' exclusive global supplier of lenses since 2002.
