Etnia Barcelona, the Spanish eyewear brand, recorded an increase in sales of 20 percent in 2017 as compared with 2016 when it announced €68 million in revenues. The company expects to achieve the same growth for the current year. Its most important markets are France, Germany, Italy and Spain, followed by the U.S. and Canada. 90 percent of what is produced is sold outside Spain. Etnia Barcelona's collections of corrective frames and sunglasses are made in the company's own production site in China. Etnia presented 40 new corrective frames and 35 new styles of sunglasses at this year's Silmo show in Paris. Etnia has its own store in Barcelona and plans to open further stores in the near future. Etnia currently plans to develop a collection for the Asian markets and is about to set up its distribution in China and Hong Kong. The Spanish company has offices in Hong Kong, Canada, Miami and Barcelona. Etnia Barcelona hired Cristina Trujillo as its new managing director in January this year. She succeeds David Pellicer, who founded the eyewear brand in 2001.
