Eye care professionals in the U.S. remain relatively optimistic about the industry, according to the Optical Business Barometer put out for March by Jobson Optical Research. The March rating was 3.9, the same as in February and the highest it's been since the OBB was started in January 2010. The cumulative rating for the first three months of 2012 is significantly higher than the same time period in 2011 or 2010, the report noted. The ratings run from 1, which is very negative, to 5, which is very positive. Eye care professionals are asked about their outlook for the industry for the next six months as well as current condition. For March, eye exams matched their highest rating since OBB started. The Western region hit a record high and the Midwest tied its record, while the Northeast and the South both backed off a little from their highest ratings.
