Fielmann saw external sales, including VAT and inventory changes, increase to €1.61 billion in its financial year 2017, up from €1.55 billion in the previous year. Consolidated sales rose to €1.39 billion, as compared to €1.34 billion in financial year 2016. The net income rose from €171.2 million in financial 2016 to €173 million. The German company said it also sold more glasses, from 7.99 million pairs in 2016 to 8.11 million in 2017, despite there being four fewer shopping days than in 2016. At the end of financial 2017, Fielmann operated 723 stores, up from 704 in the previous year. The company said it will continue to look at expansion both domestically and abroad.
