The Afflelou Group has reported a drop of 8.9 percent in sales at Alain Afflelou stores, many of which are franchised, for the first half of its financial year, ended on Jan. 31, attributing it to the effect in France of new legislation on the reimbursement of consumers’ expenses on eyewear. Sales have been stable in other countries where the group operates. The company said its Ebitda grew by 4.2 percent, thanks in particular to better results in Spain and other countries. Including other operations; group sales went down by 3.4 percent in the six-month period, including a drop of 6.9 percent in the second quarter of the financial year.
