For the third quarter ended Sept. 30, Shamir Optical Industry's revenues increased by 28.5 percent to $30.9 million compared with the same period in 2006. Gross profit for the progressive lens maker increased by 25.3 percent to $16.2 million, or 52.3 percent of revenues Shamir's operating income went up by 125.1 percent to $3.2 million, or 10.2 percent of revenues. Net income for the quarter increased by 75.4 percent to $2.3 million. Excluding the effects of non-cash stock-based compensation, operating income was $3.4 million, or 11 percent of revenues, up from $1.8 million, or 7.5 percent of revenues, for 2006. Also excluding those expenses, net income for the quarter was $2.6 million, an increase of 49.5 percent.
