Gerber Coburn, the division of Gerber Scientific that sells processing equipment for ophthalmic lenses, had an 11.3 percent drop in revenues to $11.0 million in the third quarter ended Jan. 31. For the first nine months of its fiscal year, revenues dropped by 16.3 percent to $36.5 million. At Gerber Scientific overall, quarterly turnover rose by 4.2 percent to $110.7 million. About 8 percent of this was a gain from currency effects. The gross profit margin slipped by 0.6 percentage points to 29.7 percent. The company said that its European business was stable, Asia had a solid improvement, and the U.S. was recovering, though slowly.
