Gerber Coburn was the only division of Gerber Scientific to have raised sales and orders in the 3rd quarter ended Jan. 31, thanks in particular to a deal with a major American discount chain. The parent company, Gerber Scientific, endured a 13.3 percent drop in total revenues to $116.4 million in the quarter. Restructuring charges of $5.5 million led to a $3.5 million net loss, which compares with a $3.6 million loss in the year-earlier period. John Hancock, president of Gerber Coburn Optical, has agreed to join the board of directors of Vision Council of America.
