Gerber Scientific's ophthalmic lens processing segment had revenues of $19.2 million in the first quarter ended July 31, 2004, up 3.7 percent from the same period last year, but net losses reached $593,000, compared to $41,000 last year because of $1.4 million in restructuring charge associated with the relocation of the Gerber Coburn facility in Oklahoma to Connecticut, which started in June. Overall, the group made $127.7 million in revenues over the quarter, a decrease of under 1 percent, while net earnings reached $697 million, up by 92 percent. The company says it achieved revenue growth in both its Gerber Technology and Gerber Coburn businesses, and that it remains on track with its turnaround plan.
