Germany's Federal Cartel Office has levied a fine of €11.5 million against Ciba Vision, charging that it applied pressure on internet retailers such as eBay to respect its recommended retail prices. Ciba Vision said it will pay the fine, having agreed to an out-of-court settlement with the Cartel Office in the proceedings, which began in 2008. The company said it disputes the allegations from a factual and legal point of view, but it has agreed to abstain from lodging an appeal against the decision. In the contact lens sector, the German anti-trust authority has already acted against another company, Wöhlk.
