Giorgio Armani reports a capital gain of €21.1 million on a package of Safilo Group shares bought in December 2005 for a symbolic price of one euro. The transaction implemented an option that the Italian designer had previously stipulated, evidently in connection with the extension of his eyewear license with the Italian firm. Armani still owns on a personal basis 4.95 percent of Luxottica's shares, which have continued to appreciate. They are now worth about €467 million.
