Gold & Wood, the specialist in luxury eyewear based in Luxembourg, has launched many new initiatives after several years of strong sales growth. Among other things, it has signed a global 5-year license with Korloff, a special French brand of watches and jewelry, for a coordinated line of eyewear inspired by its high-end styles.

The company is also launching a line of younger and less expensive styles under the brand of Woodlook, a 30-year-old workshop near Paris that it bought three years ago. Gold & Wood says it was the first one to use lightweight wood materials in eyeglass frames. The styles now offered under this brand use wood in combination with metal and other materials.

Gold & Wood, whose stand at the latest SILMO and MIDO fairs was particularly busy, has also structured the way in which it executes contract work for some big brands in a more professional way, capitalizing on a growing demand for luxury eyewear.

The company is enjoying particularly strong demand in the USA and Asia for expensive frames that combine horn with various types of wood and other materials. Its styles are currently sold in about 3,000 stores around the world. Total sales are expected to grow by about 30 percent this year to around €12 million.
