International Vision Expo West 2016 has seen increased attendance and strong sales from exhibitors, according to preliminary reports issued by Reed Exhibitions and its partner, the Vision Council, after the event. This year's show was held on Sept. 14-17 in Las Vegas. It featured 460 suppliers and manufacturers, including 100 newcomers.

Educational sessions, with more than 320 hours of training, reached attendance numbers close to the record, the organizers said. This year's show also featured 13 pop-up talks held throughout the show floor, a new series of events, which received high levels of attendance and positive reviews.

Social media interactions related to the show recorded a 700 percent increase in Facebook engagement against 2015 and an increase by more than 30 percent in Twitter impressions. The official show hashtag, #VisionExpo, was used more than 4,500 times during the show.

Emoji sunglasses took home first place honors as the recipient of the 2016 Vision Expo West Vision Choice Awards, sponsored by Eyecare Business and Breton Communications. Davette's Lunettes took the second place, while Specs of Wood were in third place. The awards recognize the best in new eyewear products and technology, as voted upon by Vision Expo attendees.

Next year, International Vision Expo East will be held at the Javits Center in New York City from March 30 to April 2, 2017, while the next edition of International Vision Expo West will be held at the Sands Expo & Convention Center in Las Vegas from Sept. 14-16.
