Groupe TWC has confirmed the acquisition of L'Amy Group, of which we spoke in the last issue of EWI. TWC, which is already involved in watches, says the acquisition will turn it into the biggest French supplier of fashion accessories excluding fragrances (and possibly other products). It will use its own sales operations in Germany, the Middle East and Southeast Asia as well as the subsidiaries of L'Amy in France, Italy, the U.S. and Australia. The details of the takeover are still sketchy. Marc Lamy will continue to work for the company, with a minority stake, but he will concentrate on product development. His former financial partner, Yves Durand, has left the company completely. The two of them had bought back L'Amy from an American investment group, Eyecare Products, in 1999.
